Project Goals

To prepare for implementation of the new teacher and school building leader assessment and certification requirements and the new Common Core Standards, this initiative provided funds to support and enhance professional development (PD) activities for teacher and school leader education program and relevant arts and sciences faculty at independent institutions, including deans, department chairs, teaching and research members (full- and part-time) so that faculty have the information needed to prepare the sector's future teachers and school leaders.

Through Professional Development opportunities, research, collective and collaborative discussion, and design of resources and tools, faculty and staff in each region’s institutions of higher education were offered opportunities to understand the changes in teacher and school leader education certification requirements, performance assessments and learning standards. The project provided institutions with the information and tools they needed to incorporate changes to their program to ensure success of their teacher adn school leader candidates.
